7 things you need to know when hiring a belly dance performance on New Year's Eve:

1. Performances are from 20-30 mins including time for photos.
2. All our performances involve crowd participation and we especially make VIPs feel even more special.
3. You dont need a lot of space to include a bellydance performance. We are used to dancing in small spaces like restaurants.
4. All our dancers create a grand entrance using LED wings and other props to wow your guests.
5. Fire can be incorporated into a bellydance performance at an additional cost.
6. Musicians available with your bellydance performance include drummers and other percussionists, violinist, oud and guitar players.
7. New Year's eve prices are premium so expect to pay more for your performance. But we know it's worth it!

Phil Gunther has a master's in ethnomusicology and did postgraduate studies at the VCA. Phil performs in various ensembles, including with Melbourne Symphony musicians at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and most of the major Australian festivals. Phil has achieved further training with Master musicians in New York, New Mexico, Turkey, Egypt, India and Australia. “Singing and playing music feeds my soul and are essential for my well being” says Phil
 
Grant Smith has been performing percussion since the 90’s in live hip-hop, reggae, world music and folk outfits. He has been privileged to tour with renowned international artists such as Horace Andy (Massive Attack) and the Congos and The Abyssinians of Jamaican fame. He brings a unique, dynamic
contemporary style on his beautiful Australian hardwood percussion kit.
 
Ernie Gruner played with middle-eastern band Yalla! for over 10 years, and has played Arabic and Turkish music since. He plays with Saray Iluminado which includes related Jewish Sephardic and Bosnian Sevdah styles. Ernie plays in Bohemian Nights with Phil Carroll who studied those styles in Egypt and Turkey.
 
Playing Darabuka and Egyptian Tabla Andrew Kuhlmann specialises in percussion styles from across the Middle East and North Africa. Andrew has played and recorded with a number of Melbourne based outfits including Yalla, Jadida and La Kasbah.

We spent a lot of time late last year wondering whether we could ever get back to our events program due to all the restrictions and issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic. We had long discussions about how we could possibly make plans for 2022 and have the safety of our performers and our guests at the forefront of everything we do. 

In the end we decided to push ahead, knowing we have the resilience to change plans at the last minute. We also have the confidence that we can run a safe event and ensure our performers are safe as well as our guests.

So here we are, with our first monthly event coming up on the 25th February and plans for a whole year of events. So come and join us! We wont be able to have our guests busting moves on the dance floor but that doesn't stop us standing on our chairs and having a wild time anyway. After all, we are bellydancers, we know how to party!!

I just spent the last two weeks on the set of Channel 7 filming a brand new variety show called "All Together Now".  I was lucky enough to be selected from one of 100 singers and entertainers who will be judging contestants as they sing their heart out for a grand prize of $100,000! It was a truly amazing experience and I am looking forward to sharing more information with you as soon as publicity shots are available.
